Dis-Chem Pharmacies is actively seeking Casual Cashiers for our Mall@55 location in Pretoria. We aim to build a strategic talent pool—a group of pre-screened candidates with the right skills and qualifications for future opportunities at Dis-Chem.
Role Purpose:
Your role as a cashier will involve delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You’ll accurately record customer transactions in compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures, with no tolerance for errors or fraud.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months in cashier or till operations
- Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, strong numerical ability
- Language: Fluent in English
- Customer Service: Basic skills required
- Availability: Flexible to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold Dis-Chem’s customer service policies diligently.
- Build professional relationships with customers.
- Report any customer feedback to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
- Meet established customer turnover rates.
- Stay informed on current promotions and sales.
- Maintain safety for colleagues and customers.
- Communicate effectively using Dis-Chem’s 5-star principles.
- Manage cash flow responsibly.
- Get approvals for line voids and price changes from supervisors.
- Handle merchandise exchanges and returns with proper authorization.
- Process all purchase transactions, including various payment methods like cash, bank cards, and loyalty cards from partners (Discovery Health, Medihelp, Momentum, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA, eBucks).
- Securely deposit cash in the drop safe as per SOPs.
- Keep passwords and codes secure and updated regularly.
- Ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid accurately.
- Safeguard all cash in the till.
- Maintain confidentiality about daily takings and discuss only with management.
- Be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to management.
- Address customer queries regarding store merchandise.
- Follow all security protocols as enforced by Dis-Chem.
