JOB DESCRIPTION.

Join our dynamic Surveillance Off-Site Control Room team and play a crucial role in maintaining security operations. Our Surveillance Officers monitor and escalate incidents to the Situational Control Room, where these escalations are either addressed or resolved in the Surveillance Control Room.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Grade 12)
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in PC operations
  • Certification: PSIRA Grade “C” certification
  • Clear Background: No criminal record

Industry Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of the Surveillance (CCTV) industry
  • Understanding of surveillance monitoring fundamentals and methodologies
  • Experience with surveillance monitoring platforms

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a Monitoring Centre or similar role

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills
  • Effective reporting abilities
  • Proactive mindset and ability to perform under pressure
  • Accountability for all tasks and duties

Technical Skills Preferred (Knowledge in):

  • Monitoring platforms such as Syntell, DSS (Dahua) Deep Alert, Vumacam Proof 360 (Isentry), and Proof Search is advantageous

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with team members

Job Overview and Key Responsibilities:
As a National Command Centre Operator specializing in surveillance, your primary role is to provide round-the-clock monitoring and escalation of security events. Your duties include overseeing various security systems, with responsibilities tailored to your desk assignment.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Syntel (LPR Alerts): Respond promptly to alerts on WhatsApp with SIU Members. Generate a signal on Listener and add it to the dispatch queue.
  • DSS (Dahua): Analyze and assess alerts for potential threats. If a threat is identified, escalate the situation and generate a signal on Listener for armed response intervention. Dismiss alerts if no threat is detected.
  • Listener: Monitor WhatsApp groups actively and create Listener alarms for dispatching vehicles to designated locations requiring attention.
  • Deep Alert: Evaluate alerts for security threats. Escalate and create a Listener signal for dispatching a vehicle to the area of concern if a threat is confirmed.
  • Vumacam (Revenue Client) – Proof 360 (Isentry): Scrutinize event stations for suspicious activities, including:
  • Individuals behaving suspiciously
  • Vehicles parked excessively long in an area
  • Hi-jackings
  • Robberies
  • Accidents
  • Proof Search: Conduct searches for any wanted vehicles and update the system with new alerts for wanted vehicles.
  • System Reporting: Immediately report any system malfunctions within the Off-Site Control Room to the Branch Manager and Surveillance Control Room Seniors on duty.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES.

The following tasks are essential but not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

  1. Alert Monitoring and Compliance: Diligently monitor alerts and ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each site, as outlined in the monitoring instructions. If any instructions are unclear, promptly escalate concerns to your shift senior or relevant manager.
  2. Efficient Alert Management: Maintain a clear task stack, addressing alerts promptly and accurately to ensure operational efficiency.
  3. Detailed Escalation Reporting: Escalate any findings with comprehensive details to facilitate efficient resolution of issues.
  4. Feedback and Documentation: Provide detailed feedback on all findings and accurately document resolutions in the system notes.
  5. Shift Handover: Conduct thorough handovers with the outgoing shift to ensure seamless transition and continuity of alert management.
  6. Activity Log Maintenance: Capture all station-related activities in the provided occurrence book (OB book) during your shift.
  7. Equipment Functionality: Ensure all equipment at your station is fully operational and report any anomalies to the Branch Manager or Surveillance Monitoring Senior.
  8. Policy and Procedure Adherence: Follow all Control Room Policies and Procedures professionally, maintaining respectability at all times.
  9. Customer Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, providing comprehensive feedback and addressing or escalating any issues they may have.
  10. Training and System Clarity: Notify your manager if any systems or procedures are unclear to seek additional training support.
  11. Incident Follow-Up: Follow up on any actions you initiate to ensure accurate feedback for incident resolution.
  12. Punctuality and Performance: Be punctual and prepared for your shift. Notify management promptly of any issues that may affect your punctuality or performance.
  13. Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality in all work conducted within the Surveillance Off-Site Control Room, refraining from sharing any information externally.

These responsibilities are designed to ensure a high standard of service and efficiency within our Surveillance Monitoring operations.
